How to Play Craps – Craps Rules Simplified

Before doing anything, you need chips.

After placing your bet, you receive virtual chips. Pay attention to the minimum bet at that table so you can plan what to play with. You and the other players will then take turns rolling the dice. You can pass on a roll because you’ll win or lose whether you roll or not. Everyone keeps rolling until they “seven-out,” which is also known as a “losing 7.” The total numbers on the two dice is what matters.

When making a Pass Line bet, which is the best because it has a house edge of just 1.41%, you wait until the dealer turns the puck to “off.” This means a new round is about to start. While in the off position, place your chips in the Pass Line area of the table. The shooter will roll the dice, which is the “Come Out” roll because it is the first roll of the round.

If a 7 or 11 is rolled, it’s a winner. The shooter rolls again. The numbers 2, 3, and 12 are losers. The shooter rolls a third time and the numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 means you get to go to the Point Round. When you win, you are paid the amount of your bet but also get your original bet back. If you lose, your bet is taken away.

If you go to the Point Round, and the puck is turned to “on,” the dealer places the puck on the number that was rolled. This is the Point. If the shooter rolls the Point a second time, you win. If the shooter rolls a 7, then you lose because it is a “seven-out.”

After mastering this bet, which has the best craps odds and the easiest craps rules, you can learn other types of bets. However, to win, you only need to know this bet. How much you learn or don’t learn is up to you.

Know Your Craps Odds Before Playing

Craps odds depend on the bet you make.

The harder it is to roll a number, the higher the payout. The fewer ways a number can be rolled, the harder the odds. The harder the odds, the better the payout. An increase in payout means the house’s edge increases. For example, the Pass Line bet has odds of 251 to 244 with a payout of 1:1. The house edge is just 1.414%. Try a one roll bet like Any 7 and the odds are 5:1 with a 4:1 payout, while the house edge 16.9%.

Overall, craps is a fun game. While a game of chance, you still use a lot of strategy when placing bets.
