MGM to Unveil NJ Online Gambling Platform in Late 2017

MGM, which has owned Atlantic City’s famous Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa since 2016, has announced that it plans to launch a poker platform and online casino later in 2017. This gives the casino a major jump into the online casino market, which has been an integral part of helping save the casinos in Atlantic City by generating new interest.

A Brand-New Platform

The new MGM gaming platform will offer real gambling and will operate under the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa’s license.

MGM hasn’t given a specific launch date, but it is one of many endeavors that have entered New Jersey. Online gambling is widely illegal in the United States, but New Jersey started regulating online casinos in 2013. This was considered a wise move since the industry is totaling more than $20 million in the state.

Not a New Endeavor

MGM joins four other New Jersey casinos that are offering online gaming. Those casinos are the Golden Nugget, Caesar’s Interactive, Tropicana Casino and Resort, and Resorts Casino Hotel. This is the first time that a platform will be licensed under the MGM brand, and it’s a big deal for Atlantic City and its gambling industry.

This revival has proven very important to Atlantic City as people started to move away from the casinos that the city has been well known for. By offering online gaming, the casinos are able to give themselves another form of revenue. In addition, they can offer many of the games that they do inside their casinos, marrying the two. This is not only a revenue-building tactic but also a way to regenerate interest in visiting the casinos.

All in all, MGM is evolving with the times in making the online gaming platform available, which opens up more doors for online gamblers. The fact that this one is stemming from Atlantic City adds about as much excitement as the MGM name that is attached to the project. This is one more place for online gamblers to enjoy their hobby.
